The Premium Plus Memberships will include the preparation and filing of up to five state income tax returns. Any additional state returns required will be billed as one-time flat fees, at a discounted rate.

It is up to the Members to schedule meetings with their advisor for the services they are subscribed. BKM pc will send out email reminders to all members to remind them when specific services need to be scheduled. The email reminders have links to the advisor’s calendar for easy scheduling. Members can also call their advisors or the BKM pc operations team to schedule meetings. It is important for the success of the planning and coaching engagements that all sessions be scheduled on a regular basis. In order to best execute solutions conceived during a member’s advisory meetings, it is essential to remain consistent. If a session is missed, it is up to the member to reschedule the session. There will be no reimbursements for missed or skipped sessions.

Financial Planning and Tax Planning engagements are guaranteed the following meetings with an advisor:

  1. The Initial Planning Meeting. During this meeting the advisor collects information from and discusses goals with the member.
  2. The Implementation Meeting. During this meeting the advisor discusses potential options to reach your goals. These meetings are meant to be a discussion. Depending on the type of plan you are discussing, the advisor may present specific numbers and details regarding a plan to reach your goals.
  3. Necessary Follow-Up Meetings. After the first two meetings, you and your advisor will determine if any follow-up meetings are necessary to implement your plan. You may also call your advisor and schedule discussions outside of the pre-determined meetings.

Coaching engagements are structured engagements with 4 pre-determined coaching sessions to be scheduled quarterly. Any additional sessions could be scheduled for an additional one-time fee to be invoiced at the time of the additional meeting.

Planning and Compliance Services

It is your responsibility to provide all the information required for the preparation of complete and accurate returns and planning engagements. You should retain all the documents, canceled checks, and other data that form the basis of income and deductions. These may be necessary to prove the accuracy and completeness of the returns to a taxing authority. You have the final responsibility for the income tax returns and, therefore, you should review them carefully before you sign them.

Our work in connection with the preparation of the above-identified engagement does not include any procedures designed to discover defalcations or other irregularities, should any exist. If we discover such information, we will make you aware of the facts. However, we cannot be responsible for identifying all defalcations or other irregularities. If you become aware of such information during the year, please contact us to discuss the best resolution of the issue.

Our firm reserves the right to use third-party service providers in serving your account. We may share confidential information about you with these service providers but remain committed to maintaining the confidentiality and security of your information. Accordingly, we maintain internal policies, procedures, and safeguards to protect the confidentiality of your personal information. In addition, we will secure confidentiality agreements with all service providers to maintain the confidentiality of your information and we will take reasonable precautions to determine that they have appropriate procedures in place to prevent the unauthorized release of confidential information. We will remain responsible for the work provided by any such third-party service providers.

We will use professional judgment in resolving questions where the tax law is unclear, or when conflicts exist between taxing authorities' interpretations of the law and other supportable positions. Unless otherwise instructed by you, we will resolve such questions in your favor whenever possible

The law provides various penalties that may be imposed when taxpayers understate their tax liability. If you would like information on the amount or the circumstances of these penalties, please contact our office.

We will discuss tax positions that may increase the risk of exposure to penalties and any recommended tax return disclosures with you before completing the preparation of the returns. In preparing your returns, we rely on your representation that we have been informed of all bartering transactions and that you understand and have complied with the documentation requirements for your expenses and deductions. If you have questions about these issues, please contact us.

Certain communications involving business advice between you and our firm may be privileged and not subject to disclosure to outside entities. By disclosing the contents of those communications to anyone, or by turning over information about those communications to the government, you may be waiving this privilege. To protect this right to privileged communication, please consult with us or your attorney prior to disclosing any information about our business advice.

Your returns may be selected for review by the taxing authorities. Any proposed adjustments by the examining agent are subject to certain rights of appeal. If an examination occurs, we will represent you if you so desire; however, these additional services are not included in our fee for preparation of your returns  or included in the memberships offered and we will render additional invoices for the time and expenses incurred.

In our attempt to go paperless, we would appreciate your help in receiving all documents and communications electronically. If you would prefer to keep all engagements and communication by paper, please let a staff member know upon completion and we would be happy to print your copy to paper. Otherwise, all finished products will be available via the client portal.
